Royal Wings ISLAND ATTRACTION
Masterplanning and Architectural Design | Tourism Attraction and & International Conference Centre
2018 | Indonesia Batam

This is a tourism project located on Bintan Island in Indonesia. Bintan Island is approximately a 45-minute boat ride from Singapore and is a tourist city mainly catering to Singaporean tourists. The project consists of two land parcels separated by a road, with a total land area of 330,000 square meters, facing the sea with its own coastline. The project includes the overall planning and design of tourist attractions, a convention and exhibition center, resort hotels, eco-friendly mangrove treehouses, villa properties, a zoo, and dining streets.
At the attraction, visitors will be welcomed by undulating wooden entrance structures resembling waves. Along the coastline outside the attraction, seaside dining is designed. Visitors can also stay at adjacent resort hotels. The resort hotels offer private beaches, with pools and bar dining also designed on the beach. Due to significant changes in terrain elevation, the hotel lobby is designed at a higher elevation. A series of terraced water features are designed from the elevated lobby to the shoreline, creating a visually unobstructed connection leading the sightlines directly to the sea view. The hotel rooms are designed as terraced double-story units following the natural contours of the terrain. The facades integrate undulating wooden structures harmoniously with the mountains.
The resort hotel also includes a convention and exhibition center. The center is designed to be partially embedded in the mountains, with the main hall overlooking the attractions and sea views. A rooftop garden is designed on top of the center.
At the end of the hotel is an ecological marshland. We don't want to disrupt the existing ecological environment and aim to minimize the disruption during the construction process. Therefore, we designed treehouses elevated above the marshland. While walking on the platforms among the trees, visitors can learn about the ecology of the marshland.
At the other end of the road, inland plots have been designed to include a small zoo and an outdoor dining street.
