The project is located inside the Beijing Xidan Wedding Plaza, covering a total space of 150 square meters. Unlike traditional restaurants, the design aims to realize the concept of a futuristic space capsule by creating a fully mechanized, unmanned dining area.
The entire restaurant can be envisioned as a space capsule box inserted into the shopping mall. The exterior features minimalist white walls combined harmoniously with translucent red glass panels and gradient red louvers. Inside, the sleek combination of black and cool grey tones, accented by red highlights, evokes a strong futuristic impression.
On the neatly arranged white exterior wall panels, Arabic numerals and traditional Chinese characters resemble the doors of a space capsule.
The use of red symbolizes the corporate branding color of "U-DING." High-illuminance soft membrane ceilings and full-body red glass draw attention inward, focusing the visual perception onto the interior space.
Fixed using aluminum profiles and fittings, gradient-red fluted glass screens form the façade, creating a blurred boundary between the interior and exterior. This ambiguous relationship enriches the space with cinematic quality.
Through this blurred medium, one can glimpse the interior: minimalist red and white long tables and white chairs in the foreground contrast sharply with white mechanical arms and glossy black inner walls in the background. This visually segments the space, guiding the viewer's sightline from distant to near, immersing visitors in the highly futuristic and technological atmosphere.
Dialogue: Past, Present, and Future
An art installation behind semi-transparent red glass captivates the viewers' curiosity. At the top is an old-fashioned signal-receiving satellite dish, below which sit two black-and-white televisions from the 1970s playing videos of robotic arms at work. The juxtaposition of vintage home electronics with intelligent mechanical arms suggests that the dish receives signals from the future, initiating an intriguing dialogue across time and visually demonstrating the collision and interaction between the past, present, and future.
